How to Create an Apple ID (Apple Account) in Kenya: Email, Password, Phone Number Verification and Payment Options — Credentials You Need for iPhone, iPad and MacBook

Your Apple Account — still widely called an Apple ID — is the single most important credential for any Apple device. It holds your iCloud photos and backups, App Store apps and Find My. People search “create Apple ID Kenya” because the steps are easy to get wrong. Here is what you need.

What you need

An email address you control and will keep for years (Gmail is fine), a strong password you have not used elsewhere, your Kenyan phone number for verification codes, and your date of birth. A payment method is optional — you can download free apps without one.

How to create it on an iPhone or iPad

During setup, tap “Forgot password or don't have an Apple Account?” then “Create a Free Apple Account”. Or, on a phone that is already set up, open Settings, tap “Sign in to your iPhone”, then create a new account. Enter your name, date of birth and email, choose a password, then confirm your phone number with the code Apple sends. Choose Kenya as your country or region so the App Store shows Kenyan apps such as M-PESA and your bank.

How to create it on a MacBook

Open System Settings, click “Sign in with your Apple Account”, then “Create Apple Account”, and follow the same steps. On a new Mac you can do this during setup.

Keep it safe

Two-factor authentication is on by default — keep the phone number current. Never share your Apple Account password with a seller or repair stall, and never buy a phone that is still signed in to someone else's account. Write your email and password down and keep them somewhere safe at home: if you forget them, recovering the account can take days.
